  Working Groups  
 

 

Working Group 1 (WG1) is responsible for the inventory of BGBD within the selected benchmark sites. Some of the country teams have biological scientists specializing in soil micro-organisms while others specialize in meso- and macro organisms of the soil. Areas of specialization include knowledge in: termites, mycorrhiza, ants, nematodes, earthworms, bactreia, fungi, rhizobia, phytopathogens, etc. Other members are specialists in ecosystem functions. Working Group 1 is being coordinated by Professor fatima Moreira as the Global Convenor. Representation in the group vary from country to country with Brazil having 18, Cote d'Ivoire 20, India 16, Indonesia 13, Kenya 11, Mexico 18 and Uganda 2. Tentative technical advisers to this working group includes Dr. David E. Bignell, Dr. Anthony Bellotti, Professor James Tiedge, and Professor Patrick Lavelle.
